A LETTER TO COMPLACENCY (We just can’t work things out)

A LETTER TO COMPLACENCY (We just can’t work out)

Dear Frenemy Complacent,

Good luck being a comedian

You never made me laugh as I wanted

You never made me smile as I pretended

You never cracked my ribs

You made Adams out of Adams when Eves were still unseen.

Very unprofessional at creating excuses.

You hurt me like an opponent rebutting one’s greatest points in the final round

You annoyed me like a slow internet connection when one is already facing deadline

You are as cold as Fanice living in a freezer.

As treacherous as an iceberg hiding itself under the water

How dare you call my name louder?

Aren’t you the king of silence?

You thought me to always play the role ‘dumb’

Even when the ‘speaker’ role was a vacancy

You are the slow poison that kills time

You are the slowest fastest destiny tracker

Get out of this mind!

And never show up again

Because like every other break-up

It might hurt at first, but it will heal at last

Say hello to fear for me,

I broke up with him too.

Till we never meet again

Goodbye forever.

Yours Sincerely,

Elizabeth Ewudiwa
